How to get a pharmacy technician license?

We Answered:

You do NOT need to go to college or take special classes of any kind to become a pharmacy tech!

Just start applying at retail chain pharmacies in your area. They usually offer PAID on-the-job training and you can get your license through your employer.

Douglas Said:

Can you get a pharmacy technician license at the age of 17?

We Answered:

It depends on the state. Some states do require a minimum age of 18, regardless if you have a diploma or not.

Francisco Said:

Will my Pharmacy Technician License be denied is I have a Suspended Imposition Of Sentence?

We Answered:

I shouldn't think so. When applying for your license, writing out a statement explaining your circumstances & sincere remorse will fair better than not taking the initiative to address it at all. It will appear that you are trying to hide it. (I'm not a pharmacy tech, tho.)

Leah Said:

Is the pharmacy technician license test hard?

We Answered:

How good are you with MATH? That is alot of it.

If you want to see what topics you need to study for the PTCB or ExCPT exam, check out:

The pharmacy technician test for the PTCB is made up of 90 Multiple Choice questions. There are 4 available answers, but only 1 is the correct answer. You have 2 hours to complete the test. It is in a random format, which means the subject matter jumps around randomly.

The test is currently broken down like this:

66% - Assisting the pharmacist in serving patients
22% - Maintaining Medication / Inventory Control Systems
12% - Administration and management of pharmacy practices

To pass the PTCE:
you must score at least 650 of 900. Ten of the questions are sample questions for research purposes only and won't count against your passable score. You may read some online message boards (i.e. Yahoo groups) from people who have passed, telling what's on the test. Don't rely on that information because there are several test batteries that change every five years.
