Requirements To Become A Pharmacist

Angela Said:

How long does it take, how much does it cost and what are requirements to become a medical pharmacist?

We Answered:

It takes 4 years of college, professional school, licensing, and the cost would be somewhat dependent on the school you attended. You'd pay a lot less at University of Missouri than you would at St. Louis University. You'd have to check the catalogs of whatever colleges you're considering.

Billie Said:

What are the college requirements to become a pharmacist?

We Answered:

A pharmacist has obtained a Pharm.D - a doctorate of pharmacy. He or she has also completed an internship and taken an intensive courseload including organic chemistry, microbiology and calculus. It is a 6 year program, and is not available at NAU. (Sorry, you can't do it in one day, one night and Saturday's not alright.)

This is a great website run by the Department of Labor. It gives educational requirements, salary figures, and so much more of every occupation imaginable. Good luck!

the requirements to become a pharmacist?

We Answered:

You need real strength in biology, math and chemistry. You need to graduate undergrad college with a BS and then go to pharmacy school and graduate. Make a counseling appointment while it's still free.

Jim Said:

waht are all requirements to become a pharmacist?

We Answered:

You have to have your Pharm.D. degree., which means you have to attend pharmacy school for 4 years. You would first complete pre-requisite courses in college (biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, calculus, etc.). Most applicants have their bachelor's degree before applying to pharmacy school, although some applicants only have 60 semester hours - it all depends. And you have to take the PCAT exam for admission into pharmacy school (like the SAT or ACT for college). It is very competitive, so make sure you have extra-curriculars and volunteer work also.
