What happens to a pharmacists license if they are addicted to drugs? We Answered:
Okay I have alot of information for you, I am not sure if your the pharmacist but I ca definately help you or whoever your asking for. I am a drug and alcohol counselor and I am the supervising counselor in a rehab center. If this pharmacist was to check themselves in to rehab then it would be completely confidential and no one would even have to know they had a drug problem, unless they stole drugs from work, then they are looking at a problem, and would probably have to be clean for atleast a year and okay random drug tests in order to get another job. But if this person has gone under the radar and no one knows about it then their best bet is to take a leave of absense and check into treatment and get the help they need. I am also a recovering addict, and I know alot of alcoholics who have been sober for years that work in a bar and are bartenders, If you have the willpower to stay clean then being around it shouldnt bother you. I am guessing that this pharmacist is addicted to opiates becaue that would be the only real thing they would be exposed to in a pharmacy because coke and marijuana and stuff are not prescribed so im assjuming it is pills. You need to let this person know that if they do take drugs from wirk especially the controlled sbstances they are going to get caught and in that case they wont be able to get a job in the field and they will probably lose their liscense. Trust me I know how terrible addiction is and you need to have this person get into treatment as soon as possible. I work around addicts everyday, and everyday when pepole come in for intakes I have to search their stuff and atleat 2 out of every 10 patienst that comes in, comes in with my drug of choice and I have to flush it down the toilet, so it is right in front of my face but my job is more important to me than getting high so I know better. So even though this person works in a pharmacy they can still go back in that environment if they are serious about staying clean. If this is you that your talking about, and you need some more facts, and HIPAA law information, and information for your state and what they do please e mail me and I would be happy to talk to you. I know being in my field I have to be certified to be a addictions counselor and most addictions counselors like myself are recovering addicts, but we do get drug tested, and if the certification board who gives us our liscenes would find out that one of us were using drugs then we would have to go to treatment, and stay sober for atleast 6 months and then we could return to our job, and keep our liscense. So I hope this helps you.James Said:
Do people feel it is their right to be Rude to people in the customer service industries? We Answered:
I think everyone should be required to have three jobs: a telemarketing job, a waitressing job and a customer service position. Doing any of these would key you into how someone being nice or polite to you can make your day. I even will go so far to say that if everyone did all three of these jobs, the world would be a more peaceful, kind place. For me, I have done all three for years, and you are right for saying that people are completely rude and unneccessarily so. I for one am never rude to the customer, as that is my job, but as a customer, I am never rude to the person helping me by doing their job. 9/10 if you are unhappy about something, the person helping you will do everything in their power (KEY WORDS: IN THEIR POWER) to fix it and make you happy. A reminder to everyone: we, who serve you, are people too and wouldn't mind a little bit of kindness or heaven forbid, polite gestures in return.
Thank you for posting this question. I hope it opens some eyes out there.

what should I do about work?We Answered:
I think the best thing to do would be to have a sit down with the staff Pharmacist and let her know that you really enjoy the job and would like to improve so you can stay and become a beneficial part of the team. Before this meeting you should sit down and really think about what areas you think you need to improve on. Then in the meeting, discuss these areas by saying you did a self assessment on yourself and would like to be more involved in those procedures to improve on being a contributing member to the team. You can also ask her what areas she feels you need to improve on as well. Try to accept any criticism from a "what can I do to correct this and get better" standpoint rather than feeling cut down or getting defensive. Most importantly, take responsibility for your actions. Although you may feel that you weren't trained properly, you can't blame your trainer. All that is going to do is cause more strife in the workplace. Especially since you have been there for over a year. Most employers expect that their employees will learn to adjust in the position, use common sense, keep learning and move forward getting better as they go. You won't be respected if you have not improved on your skills since you've started.
Most of all, remember that you are at WORK, not home. Although you may have decent relationships with some of your co-workers, they are not your family. Im sure they will cover their own butts before they do yours. Remember that. This frame of mind can also cause you to become complacent in your job. Remember it's your job, and your butt. Be good at what you do. With this you will have peace of mind. If you are good at what you do, you will respect yourself more and others will also.
