Veterinary Pharmacy Career
Darlene Said:
Have you been in a situation like this?We Answered:
$40,000 is the *starting* salary, yes. It goes up with time. By mid-career, you'll be well over $70,000, maybe over $90,000.Also, keep in mind that cost of living is lower in rural areas. Your paycheque, though low to start, will go farther in a rural setting than it would in a major city.
I say stick with veterinary medicine. It seems to be what you're passionate about, and the money will work out, don't worry about that. Vets are paid well.

This site seems to have some good info.Ryan Said:
Feedback on potential career choices? We Answered:
In terms of info. that's not "straight off Google," I can offer you a little bit of insight. In terms of salary, I think dentistry is your best option of the above. Also, if you get into a good practice, I know they often have very good hours. If I was looking at the "best bang for your buck" I would probably go with pharmacy, because of several factors:
1) Good pay (average pharmacist makes $100,000-120,000 per year)
2) Good hours (if you work at a retail pharmacy, especially one that isn't 24 hours)
3) Good career opportunities - the pharmacy industry is always growing, and there is a growing need for pharmacists (especially in rural areas)
I know I couldn't answer your questions for each career choice, but hopefully this helps a little.

Which one of these certificates will get me the best paying job?We Answered:
Well, that is a loaded question. You have to consider a couple of things - the main one is the amount of opportunities for each choice in your area. If you choose an area that does not have a lot of openings, competition will be stiff and you may not land a job. So, search some career sites to see what the opportunities are for each job in your area. Once you target those that have a lot of opportunities, go to a salary wizard - yahoo's HotJobs has one on the bottom of their page. You will need to input the job title and the area you are working in to get a good feel for what each job pays.Hope that helps.

veterinarian assistant, would i like this job?We Answered:
I personally am not a veterinary tech. However, I have researched it a lot. I noticed no one has answered, so I will answer my best.Veterinary assistants are responsible for:
*Cleaning and maintaining holding areas and equipment
*Clerical and administrative work
*Feeding, exercising and grooming patients
*Preparing and sanitizing surgery suites
*Restraining and handling patients
Also, note that to be a veterinary tech, you must go through college to get a degree. For a vet assistant all you need is on the job training and high school diploma. Personally, this seems like a very good job, if you can maintain yourself and like cleaning up the cages, feeding the animals, disinfecting cages, checking for diseases and illnesses, sterilizing lab and other materials. Basically, you are the carer of the animals.
You can always job shadow another assistant or call a vet and arrange a meeting to talk about it. Another idea is to just try it and see if you like it! I think the payment is around 30k a year, not completely sure.
Best,
Zach
