Army Physical Therapy Program

Isaac Said:

Army Reservist wanting to do ROTC for Fall 2010?

We Answered:

since you are interested in the military any way. Look at this program and it is free for PT. It is the program for military PTs. They turn out some of the top PTs in the country. Since military therapist can order tests and meds, they are taught that early. Military therapist can do more than civilian therapist.

I applaud that you want to serve our country.

How is the army physical therapy program?

We Answered:

Are you talking about education and schooling? From what I understand, the Army's programs are some of the best in the world. Physical Therapy is no different. Definitely something worth your time and effort to look into. Perhaps even visit a military hospital or training facility.

Getting out of the Army and into the Navy?

We Answered:

The Navy will not accept you either, what I would look into is doing an inter service transfer to the US Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is not Department of Defense but Department of Homeland Security. Sometimes their requirements are not the same as the Army and Navy

Kathleen Said:

Can women have a job in the front line care army’s brigade combat teams and special operations forces?

We Answered:

BCTs do not have physical therapists and combat battalians sure as hell dont. sometimes a BCT's BSB (support unit) will have a physical therapist tasked out to them for deployment, and you might get to travel to the larger FOBs (forward operating base, its a medium sized base) where battalian headquarters are, but you wont travel to the PBs (patrol base, a smaller base thats normally closer to problem areas) and what not.

as a physical therapist you are most likely to get sent to one of hte army's hospitals. you can volunteer as an individual augmentee for deployment, but you will most likely go to one of the CSHs (combat support hospitals) that stay on the COB (combat operations base, the large bases that are filled with support personel).

in your case being female with have nothing to do with where you end up, your job in the military is what is going to severly limit where you can go.

We Answered:

Just give them a call.

Crystal Said:

is it true that if you're flat footed, you can't join the army or navy?

We Answered:

Not true at all! That's an old urban legend. If you're flat-footed and don't have any problems -- and most flat-footed folks don't have any -- then it's not a bar to military service. As long as he doesn't require orthotic appliances (inserts) to walk and run he's eligible to serve.
