College Physical Therapy Programs

Patricia Said:

Suny Downstate , Cuny York College or Stony brook for Physical Therapy programs?

We Answered:

There are so many PT jobs, it does not matter. Apply to all 3 and see which ones you get into. Then pick the one you like best from the tour and your interview. If the one closest to your house and you are going to live at home and save money that is a plus

To be a PT in the NFL is very competitive. Many teams do not have their own. They send them to a private practice in the area. If you are interested, you probably want to become an ATC, CSCS, and a DPT.

Remember PT is a generalist program. YOu learn all of the specialties including pediatrics, geriatrics, wound care, acute care, neuro, women's health, orthopedics. and more.

Good Luck

Jaime Said:

question about physical therapy programs (college)?

We Answered:

There is no need for you to get an MS if you are going to complete the DPT. They are both entry level degrees. There is actually only a few small differences between the MS and MDT degree. Yet, since most programs take three years to complete at the graduate level, it only makes sense to make it a doctorate level degree. The hope is that all programs will be DPT level programs by 2020. For those programs currently in transition, they frequently offer a way for students currently enrolled in the program to transition to the new degree.

This also happened when programs transitioned from a BS to the MS degree. Students who were already enrolled in a BS only needed to take a couple more classes (to obtain the MS level degree).

Students who are currently in MS programs are not required to complete the DPT, it is simply an option when the program is in transition. There are also other transitionary programs available for those who've graduated in the past, but wish to complete the DPT degree.

Good luck
