Equine Physical Therapy

Rick Said:

Equine physical Therapy?

We Answered:

I have a friend whom is an Equine Therpist. I live near the Horse Capital so its huge around here. It all depends on your location and how big the horse industry is in that area.
The pay is at your rate but its not to bad!

Ryan Said:

What would you study to work in equine facilitated therapy?

We Answered:

Occupational therapy major with a minor in Equine Management. Need to know the horses, but the main objective is to work with kids with certain special needs. Occupational therapy training encompasses how to work with those special needs and help those kids overcome their challenges.

Arlene Said:

How hard is it to double major or get a double degree?

We Answered:

I almost got a double major in linguistics and classical studies, but I had to only get one major and two minors because I had to take an incomplete in Ancient Greek and it messed up my language requirements.

Anyway, I went into college with 21 credits and I also went to summer school one summer (I got 18 credits over the two sessions. Not recommended, but whatever.)

If you go during the summers, it should be fine. But make sure to take as many courses that count for both majors as possible and time your classes out properly so you take everything in the right order and all.

I have a major and two minors--I graduated with like, 158 credits, I think. Something like that. It wasn't too bad.

Benefits of Equine Assisted Therapy for ADHD kids?

We Answered:

The placid demeanor and undemanding persona that the horses project tend to assuage the children's hyperactivity propensities.

When they witness calm, they tend to be calmer.

What are some equine physical therapy schools?

We Answered:

Getting into a Vet school after getting your Bachelors degree is very difficult. There are only 28 Vet schools in the US. You must have excellent grades in college.

check out college with equine programs and majors. I know Southern Illinois University has one.

Advice, please and thank you :)?

We Answered:

I'm sure there are equine physical therapists. I think the place to be to study that would be the Louisville/Lexington area. Lots of great schools there, lots of big equine clinics to work at that do a lot with race horses (Rood&Riddle come to mind, they do a LOT of work with race horses. Took a horse there for surgery once, they are amazing!) That area is a hotbed for racing, lots of TB breeders, trainers, and big BIG name farms. In that area you would be near the best of the best of the TB racing industry. You would also be in my neck of the woods! Don't know how reasonable it would be to go to that area but it would definitely be a great place to study. There are some top-notch equine programs at the schools there too.

I have a friend with a great place (beautiful pastures, run-in shelters, brand new barn-and they grow their own hay!) in LaGrange. She has plenty of room and would probably take on a couple boarded horses at a very reasonable price. It would be a private barn, not a show barn but she takes great care of her horses. She is also very experienced with everything from new foals to senior horses with medical problems and has rehabbed several rescues. Let me know if you would be interested!

i really need help with choosing a college!?

We Answered:

You can go anywhere for undergrad

Iwould not go to any school in CSU system for grad school for PT

There are the few schools that have not gone on the DPT. They need to and they want to but the CS system charter will not let them. So you may start in that program and not be able to finish. If you get your MPT, you will need to go somewhere else to get your tDPT.
