Albert Said:

We Answered:

Wear anything your would work out in. Like shorts, sweats, a tanktop of baggy tshirt. Whatever you can move comfortably in.

Physical Therapy for severe hip pain while pregnant?

We Answered:

Let them know you are pregnant and they will tailor your exercises around your pregnancy. I have been to physical therapy enough to know. They may have a aqua tub where you do your exercises in water. Good luck

Ernest Said:

what physical therapy do i need to do for case of hip dislocation?

We Answered:

Make sure you consult with your doctor about this. Sometimes they may put him in a brace and let the hip joint scar in, making it tighter. If you do much PT initially you may not give it a chance to tighten and may actually stretch it out making it possible to dislocate again. If it is a result of a hip replacement, revision surgery is sometimes needed.

Neil Said:

should my 3 year old get physical therapy after a broken femur, had a cast from hip down for 6 weeks?

We Answered:

Most times, kids will not need any formal physical therapy. Since their bodies are changing anyway, just the restoration of walking and his self assumed activities is quite frequently enough for him to return to normal function.

Kids are resilliant and rarely let a condition get them down. Since they actively engage in play...walking, climbing, exploring, this is usually enough "therapy."

Yet, if you find your child reluctant to resume activities or having difficulty doing so, then some therapy may be in order.

It is a different situation with adults, who do not actively "play" and whose bone and muscular structure is fully developed. Adults usually need therapy because they are not as active as children, or they "fear" movement.

Give him a couple more days to get comfortable with putting his foot down. If no change over the weekend, I would bring it up to the doc to persue PT...I'm sure he wouldn't object. In either case, it's not an emergency to get him into PT, so try to let nature take its course over the weekend.

Good luck

John Said:

i have a torn hip labrum, i have tried physical therapy 1st with little pain relief?

We Answered:

It's an unusual diagnosis that I've only seen a handful of times during the past 10 years. Some do respond to PT, I am not sure if I've seen someone who has had an intra-articular injection. The literature suggests that those who have surgery have about the same long term results as someone who did not have surgery. This suggests that there is no clear, definitive "best treatment." What is the ortho's reason against injection?

If you've given this problem at least a year and it still bothers you significantly, I would discuss arthroscopic repair of the labrum with a surgeon...however, this is not a surgery which is commonly done. You might have to do some significant searching before finding someone who has done this procedure with any regularity.

Discuss It!
