common choices are: health sciences, kinesiology, athletic training, biology...you need to review both the courses taken in your major and the courses required by the graduate program.

I'd start by reviewing where you might go to graduate school so you can study their admissions policies.

In 2005, most physical therapists were earning between $50-70,000 a year...yet another 25% earned more than that.

A physical therapist's job is usually directly as a PT. Work settings include hospitals, private clinics, home health, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes, schools, etc.

Sometimes PTs take non-clinical jobs such as a manager, a care manager (coordinates benefits), a medical reviewer, medicare compliance officer, etc. Yet, they nearly all have spent at least some time in the clinic.

PTs examine each individual and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. Depending on the program it takes 5-7 years. You will need to get your Bachelor's Degree (usually 4 years) in a related science or health field (kinesiology, biology, athletic training, exercise physiology) and apply to graduate school for physical therapy (usually 3 years).
