PHYSICAL THERAPIST jobs, what is the best steps to becoming one if you are a young 19 year old?

We Answered:

Hi Fred,

I did receive your message, but will post here.

One thing you should start doing now is to get a general idea of where you might want to go to grad school. Go to the APTA website at www.apta.org and review the list of state by state schools that offer the graduate PT degree. Start getting a general idea of their admission requirements. Based on that, choose a major that will encompass most of those courses. (Well, technically you can choose any major you want as long as you also complete the PT prerequisites, but if time is a consideration, choose something related to the field). Enter a college where you can complete a bachelor's degree. If you are considering being a business owner, consider a BA in business or at least a business minor.

As you near completion of a bachelor's degree, you'll need to complete observation hours and take the GRE. Once you've done that, you will be eligible to apply to the graduate program.

You really can't start studying it any earlier than that. So, just be patient and start working on the general education credits and the prerequisites. Best wishes.

What jobs can help me get experience to help me later on as a Physical Therapist?

We Answered:

I would think working in a gym, YMCA style afterschool camp or in a hospital setting would provide some aid in understanding how an environment works. Try to choose a place that resembles the environment for you. Sports/personal training, kids/schools or a hospital setting I would think would be the most broad style options.

Physical therapist jobs during the summer?

We Answered:

Do it! Thats one of the most rewarding fields in healthcare. I'm not sure if they changed it to a docturate level in your state yet, but it's worth it. I'm not familiar with your city but I did a little research for ya! You can also check hospitals in your area to get inpatient experience. Hope this helps.
