Knee Physical Therapy

Heidi Said:

Should I have gotten physical therapy for my dislocated knee cap?

We Answered:

PT is extremely important for a dislocation of any joint;; the dislocation was either caused by, or produced a lax in tissue integrity, mainly the ligaments & tendons & the ONLY way to stop you from dislocating again is to strengthen, & maintain that strength..you either need to go back & demand therapy, or you need to find another doc;; this one clearly does not understand the benefits of treatment....

Johnnie Said:

Physical Therapy Knee Exercise, my knee keeps popping?

We Answered:

Physical therapy will focus on strengthening and stabilizing the patella. Hypermobility can be caused by lack of muscle control, loose ligaments or both. An important part of recovery is not to aggravate tissues that are already aggravated or have the potential to be. You may be sore but is important not to force the knee, make it pop, or feel sharp pains. Chondromalacia patella is a wearing away of the cartilage on the under-surface of the patella which is a degenerative process but can be started by suffering an injury. There are many interventions than can be used in the treatment of your problem. I would highly suggest you seek the assistance of a physical therapist in your area.

Melinda Said:

I have a meniscus tear in my knee, started physical therapy, any workouts to suggest?

We Answered:

I agree, swimming is great for this type of rehab. You may also want to look into this rehabilitation device called a Dynasplint. See source below.

Danielle Said:

what should i expect with physical therapy for a torn ligament in the knee?

We Answered:

A lot depends on which ligament was torn. But much of what they will do will be pain control with certain modalities to decrease pain, maintain or gain range of motion to restore it back to normal, and strengthening the muslce of your leg to compinsate for the torn ligament and prevent nit from happening again.

Good luck and take some pain meds before you go. That will make it more tolerable :-)

knee physical therapy?

We Answered:

Talk to your doctor about that. Don't be afraid to mention it to the therapist, but she'll probably refer you to your Dr. anyway.

Georgia Said:

can you wear sweatpants to physical therapy for your knee?

We Answered:

As long as they can easily be pulled up over your knee, sweatpants are fine.

15. What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. If you have a low back or knee injury, bring a pair of shorts or sweatpants.
