Online Physical Therapy Schools

Catherine Said:

schooling for a physical therapist?

We Answered:

the most common way to become a PT is to get a BS in anything with the proper pre reqs and then apply to grad school for PT. The other way is to do a 3 plus 3 program. Generally housed at small private colleges. You start as a freshman and are accepted in the PT program if you get the proper grades in the first 3 years. Here are some helpful links

Denise Said:

are the online schools like university of phoenix accredited? i wanna take some prerequisites?

We Answered:

Ask the schools you would consider transferring the credits to, that's all that matters. Eventually, you would have to be accredited by the state health department; if you can meet their licensure requirements, what school you attended is irrelevant.

Rene Said:

online college yes or no?

We Answered:

There are 1000's of choices for you. And, I do mean 1000's.

Everyone and his brother teaches online in 2009 and that includes the likes of Harvard, Oxford, UC-Berkeley, Duke, Columbia, UMass, UTexas, Florida, .... everyone. All the way down to your local community college.

You have way more choices than those "as seen on TV programs". People that don't understand that nearly every college in the world is teaching online and it works are just stuck in 1981. Check out this one: http://www.extension.harvard.edu/2008-09… I've heard that they have a pretty solid reputation in the world. Much better than "night courses at your local community college" don't you think?

Take a look at Petersons - http://www.petersons.com/distancelearnin… and GetEducated http://www.geteducated.com/ for some examples of the best.

Now - your choice of major. That's going to be impossible to do online unless you happen to have a bunch of physical therapy patients around the house to practice on. Most of those health professions require a serious amount of hands-on, practical time with real patients and there's just no way to do that online (unless you're already working in patient care and have access to some patients).

But, you can do your general education and academic theory classes online. No need to be in a classroom to read some world literature or American history for example.

Consider for a minute your detractors as you start this question. So, you have a 4 month old? Lots of college students have kids. No big deal - a non-issue. You and the husband only have one car? That means you'll have to work something out about transportation just like you do for anything else (going to the doctor, shopping, etc...) or get another car. In fact, a lot of college students have no car at all. Another non-issue.

Duane Said:

How do I go about getting a license as a physical therapy assistant?

We Answered:

You school should have told you how to obtain your license. If not you need to do some serious reaching. Or you can just go to a community college in your arear that offers that certificate and they should be able to tell you how to obtain your license.
