Performance Physical Therapy

Julie Said:

Should i go ahead and go to physical therapy?

We Answered:

i shattered my leg and had a rod put in. i went to physical therapy and was surprised what a difference it made. i progressed so well i was fit for deployment after only 7 months.

it is going to help with your range of motion. and with the sensitivity. i take it you are young now. but injuries like this need to heal correctly or they will give you problems later in life. nothing like having a cane at 35

Is this a possible Double Major?

We Answered:

You can double major in any combination that you want to as long as both schools are willing to accept you. And by schools I am not assuming you are applying to 2 Universities. I mean the School of Music and School of Whatever Physical Therapy falls under. You might need to talk to the deans of admission for both programs to let them know your interest. Usually, you just declare yourself as a double major and they would let you know if both programs were willing to accept you.

What kind of jobs could I get with a degree in Health and Human Performance/Exercise Science?

We Answered:

You've chosen a good major for entrance into PT school. Although this degree will not get you any jobs, it is a typical "feeder" major into the graduate program. It's meant for you to get the undergraduate classes you need without having to take a lot of uncessary courses.

Edgar Said:

Should I take kinesiology (musculoskeletal Function and Human Performance 1&2) or Biology....Physical Therapy?

We Answered:

Take the anatomy and physiology...it's a requirement at nearly all schools.

Theres a chance that other schools will not accept Kinesiology as a substitute for A&P...so to be elligible to apply to other schools, I'd take the A&P

Do I need to be licensed to administer Ultrasound Heat Therapy?

We Answered:

You would most likely need to be working under a licensed physical therapist, chiropractor or MD. In otherwords, you do not need to be licensed to administer it, but you need a licensed health care professional to determine if its appropriate to be administered. There are several cases in which you would not want to administer it, and it can be dangerous if applied at the inappropriate frequency, power and/or time.
