Physical Therapy Aide Jobs
Tony Said:
Where can I find a Physical Therapy Aide job?We Answered:
Try to look up any local physical therapy offices in your area either through the yellow pages or online and get their numbers. Call and ask to speak with the office manager, and explain to them that you're in college studying to become a PTA and would like to know if you can offer assistance in their office or if they have any openings. You can also go in person to visit the offices and drop off your resume with the manager. Make sure that you speak directly with the manager, and not the receptionist. This is what I did and I was able to obtain a job at a local physical therapy practice in my area. Good luck!Emily Said:
physical therapy aide employer?We Answered:
I would look at the area hospitals, nursing homes and outpatient programs for an aide position. Please be wary of any 'offer' on this message board or in a chatroom as no one really knows the motivation behind it :)Jon Said:
Occupational Therapy Aide vs Physical Therapy Aide differences in jobs as well as pay?We Answered:
in generic terms to not offend any COTA or PTA :a COTA works with the arms and a PTA works with the legs.
fine motor skills VS ambulation.
both follow a plan developed by their respective therapist and the pay is basically the same. pay always varies by location, experience, employer, ability, training/certifications and of course job performance.
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
and
Physical Therapy Assistant
are licensed medical positions that require classroom education and clinical training.
they make well above minimum wage and are not an "aide"
aides are as noted above a non-licensed position that does not involve actual patient contact. the aide position is seldom ever used since most facilities have CNAs which can do the job of a therapy aide as well as actual patient care and contact.

How do I find and apply for a physical or occupational therapy aide job?We Answered:
The other answerer is wrong, for an aide position you do not need an associates degree. The associates is for if you want to be a physical or occupational therapy assistant. For an aide position you can apply at any rehab facility or check hospital websites under their jobs section. You don't need any training to be an aide but you do if you want to go higher in the field of your choosing.Donna Said:
Physical Therapy Aide... a few questions about the job?We Answered:
Most physical therapists are not in the direct position of hiring people unless they are the owner or manager of a clinic. Most facilities (extended care facilities, hospitals etc) have a human resourses department that would be more than obliged to answer your questions about any positions available. They would be the ones to which to send your resume. If you are familiar with a clinic, however, I would recommend talking to the owner or manager. Give a BRIEF introduction to youself and state a reason why you are there: "Hello, my name is __________, I am hoping to become a physical therapist and I am interested in employment as a PT technician. Do you have any positions available?" Remember that these are busy professionals and a long-winded introduction may be a turn off. I do, however, recommend a resume as a professional gesture. I would include your volunteer experience.
If you cannot be hired as a tech, I'd at least recommend you take that opportunity to request to complete some volunteer and observation hours...this is required of all PT programs...with a minimum of 50 hours required at most programs.
Good luck
