PTA's earn from 29-45000 yrly . check PT .org web site.
the job is easy , yes u have to work with people so what.
few hours of overtime seldom weekends or holidays .
can u and 6 kids live on the paycheck - not really. BUT there are worse jobs out there.

done right , u can retire with solid cash and dignity while have a nice life.

Can you get a physical therapy assistant degree then get a nursing degree at the same school.?

We Answered:

Scheduling may present a problem. Both of these programs are usually highly structured and you have no choice in which classes you take and when. If they allow free scheduling, I would say it's possible. You would have to find a PTA job that would allow you a lot of flexibility. Once you get into your clinicals, it's like a full time job.

Gwendolyn Said:

im thinking of a career as a physical therapy assistant?

We Answered:

I was a PTA for a year. It doesn't pay very well. I'll be honest. There's not a ton you have to know to get into it, and it's not too challenging. But, it's a great stepping stone if you need more experience to move up in the medical world. Give it a try to see what you think. Go to college, work your butt off and get into something better where you would get paid more and enjoy your job. Answering questions and providing the best answer is how you earn points here. Good luck!

Arnold Said:

Can I be a Physical therapy assistant even though I'm REALLY bad at spelling?

We Answered:

Sure, you'll just have to work a little harder to compensate for the bad spelling. Getting into a program requires passing certain courses and tests such as the SAT's. While spelling is not a specific requirement it can be a factor in having good grades and test scores. If it is a documented learning disability then that should be presented in the applications. I have know foreign trained PT's and PTA's who have a problem with the English language let alone spelling. If you are determined to work hard and reach that goal then I think you will hit it. Good Luck.

Jimmy Said:

Have you regretted becoming a Physical Therapy Assistant and not the Physical Therapist?

We Answered:

I do not know where you live but I believe there are actually more PT schools than PTA schools. I am a PT and I work with many PTAs. Most do not regret becomming PTAs. Most were older when they became PTA and had family responsibilty that did not allow them to go to school for the PT school. We work with a few that either have gone back to PT school or who in the progress of going to PT school. They are younger. They went to PTA school at 18 or 20. Then still lived home and then went to PT school. The local PTA program and one of the local PT schools have and un advertised/un written agreement. The PTA that I supervise who is doing this. She went to PTA school for 2 years at CC. Then she spent a 3rd year at the CC getting pre reqs done that would transfer. She then transfered to a private school 3+3 program. She completed the rest of her pre reqs for 1 year. Her PT program transfered for 3 classes in the PT program and her volunteer program. She is now in the PT program just as any other student. She has been able to work as a PTA for 2 years make decent money better than the average college student as well as gaining experience in the field. Most of the PT go out of the way to teach her and show her interesting things that will be benificial when she becomes a PT. She graduated from PTA school at 19. She had this plan all along.

I would serious look at your life and see what you want to do. PTAs make less money than PT. They always need to work under a PT. But they have less responsibilty, and less liability. Everything fall backon the responsibilty of the PT. I work in the public school system. Most people do not know who is the PT and who is the PTA. They see us treat. They think that I am the one who is assigned to evaluate. They do not seen the paperwork and the supervision that goes on behind the scenes. That what happens when you work with good assistance.
