My sister is a physical therapist and makes a great living. Her hours really vary a lot but typically she's at work for 10 hours a day and does a lot of traveling (she does in office but also at home therapy). Having worked for a VERY short time at her office as an assistant I can say it was rewarding but boring work. As an assistant you basically watch the clients and make sure they follow the PT's advice with reference to the exercises.
