In the US, the minimum basic requirement is a master's degree from a program accredited by CAPTE.
Licensure is required in all 50 states. There is no national licensure...everyone takes the same test, but each inidividual state regulates licensure.
Average salary is about $66,000. To find the breakdown by state, search for "PT Advance" magazine...they reported this recently.

How to become a physical therapist?

We Answered:

You get a BS in anything as long as you get the pre req then apply to graduate school. These usually are 1 year of chem, 1 year of physics, 1 year of gen bio, 1 year of anatomy and phys. (cadaver anatomy is useful), psy, math

You will wind up with a Doctor of PT (clinical doctorate not a Phd) During your training, you will take classes and do interships

Here are some useful links from the national PT website

Physical therapy... how?

We Answered:

Volunteer hours are generally required to apply for the programs. They want to make sure that you want to be in the field. They do no want to waste a spot on someone who starts the program and does not know what they are getting into.

Jobs for students without degrees are difficult to find but not impossible. You can work as a therapy aide or a office person. The local ES program requires an intership. Those that are intersted in therapy often get internships in PT programs. Our department takes one a year.
