Physical Therapy Devices

A question about physical therapy?

We Answered:

You really need to get into the physical therapist the ONLY thing that will help the issue that you are having is to strengthen the supporting muscles around the knee. Unfortunately with the problem that you are having the doctor can do nothing to "fix" you it is something that you have to do with strenuously following what the physical therapist tells you to do even after you are done with the sessions in 6 weeks.A knee brace will not really help you with this as your knee will still keep buckling under you. I know exactly what you are going thru my right knee does this all the time and with therapy it is starting to get better even though I had to have surgery to correct other issues in my knees.

Anyone out there currently in physical therapy for back conditions---?

We Answered:

TENS stands for transcutaneous electronic nerve stimulation. It is a type of electrical stimulation and comes in many brands...probably the most popular brand is by EMPI.

There are other types of electric stimulation such as IFC, or interferential current, HVPC (high volt pulse current), as well as several others. My guess is that you may have had the IFC.

What is a good physical therapy For Brain hemorrhage ?

We Answered:

Darlin', this is a question that only a qualified physical therapist can answer. The PT will create an individualized rehab program just for you. They will ID any problem areas, and work with you on them. Ask you doctor for a referral to a PT, so that you can start on an individualized exercise/rehab program. They will also give you any devices that you may need to be able to return to as normal as possible.

Looking for Physical Therapy device?

We Answered:

They are generally safe, but certainly let the buyer be ware.

It may certainly help with pain control, but it will not get rid of the tendonitis.

I'd generally don't recommend TENS for tendonitis (I dont' really recommend it for anything), but if you've had good relief with it in the past, no reason why you can't do it now....unless you have a pacemaker.

However, the SAFEST way to do things is to contact a physical therapy clinic, have your physician write you an order for PT and for a TENS unit (we stock some in the clinic). Often, it can be billed to your insurance (EMPI generally works well with physicians and insurance companies) and then go see the PT one time to learn how to use it.

physical therapy exercise devise strengthens knee muscles?

We Answered:

Just be careful "No pain no gain" is no longer true in many situations. The more pain in many situations will worsen your condition and disable you for life. P.T. is great but you have to have a physical therapist who cares for his clients and knows his stuff. It is hard finding therapists like that.
