Hmmm, good question. If you are looking beyond that of the traditional SOAP note text book, that could stump me. We actually had sample documentation for all new grads and put them in a reference binder. We also gave them a copy of our facilities accepted abbreviations...(BTW, we still can't use RW for rolling walker or min A for minimal assist). Get another MD to state that it is medically necessary, and submit both to BCBD - BUT Good Luck bc BCBS is getting really TUFF on alot of surgeries that are not life threatening,..U might talk to a MD that would bargain for a certain price reduction is a ton more easier and safer that enlargement!

Try a couple resources at your VA hospital. They may know what to do. If he hurt is back while at RSB then he should be taken care of by the VA. Try www.va.gov and search for the VA nearest you and give them a call. In my opinion which doesn't mean much ,but the Guard wasn't the best choice, although I made the same one. Either way.... your son can always be checked out by a doctor... which he obviously has been. Ask the people at the VA about your paperwork and then they can point you in the right direction to get your son some sort of profile. If the injury is significant enough he can probably be discharged. Wish I could have been of more help.Joan Said:

It will be hard but you have to stand your ground. One thing you could try is to tell them that if the DO cannot help you further, then you will go to see who they recommend. That might give them more of an impression that you are not being obstinate or trying to say that nothing else can help you.
