Physical Therapy Exercise

Adam Said:

need a good physical therapy exercise?

We Answered:

Best recommendation I can give you is to stretch, stretch, stretch! As you're sitting down watching TV, eating, or sitting at the computer, put your toes on the floor and pull your ankles forward and stretch for a minimum of 10 seconds. Then pull your feet up in the air and pull your toes up towards your head (This will also stretch your calves). Do this again for 10 seconds. After that put your feet back on the floor and place the balls of your feet together and push your ankles out and down (to stretch the outside of your ankles) Repeat this several times and do several times a day.

In addition to this, you can buy some 2 or 3 pound ankle weights and use them to do build strength and to condition them. Simply place 1 weight on each ankle and roll your ankles in circles while your feet are off the ground. Do this for as long as you can without causing too much pain (you should feel a little burn...that's how you know you're gaining strength, but don't overdo it) Rest for about a minute and repeat 3 x's. Do this twice daily and as it becomes easier to do you can buy an additional pair of weights and double up on each ankle. By the time you're able to do 2 weights a piece, your ankles (and calves) should be strong enough to withstand quite a bit.
