Physical Therapy For Cerebral Palsy
Henry Said:
Is botox a good choice for cerebral palsy? We Answered:
It is fantastic at treating the muscular spasms of CP.The botox paralyzes the muscle therefore it relaxes.
My Neurologist uses it all the time on kid's with CP and it's so great that it made it onto the news here as a highly recommended treatment.
I have had botox 3 times in my oesphagus due to muscular contractions. It worked great the first time. I was like new. The second not so well and the third was a waste of time.
But that how it goes with my condition.
CP is much more different with it's reactions the the injections.

Mild Cerebral palsy and does exercises everyday and R/heel is still not on the ground? We Answered:
I have mild cp too. small world huh. anyway keep doing your strtches. I would suggest not wearing a brace yes it will help but there uncomfortable. I wore braces on both my legs for about 5 years of my life and it sucked. I would suggest doing a runner's stretch both with un-bent and bent knee. I would also suggest doing calf raise with weight and no weight. Sometimes if you go to the doc. they can give you ultrasound or a stimulating device to loosen your muscles toDawn Said:
Cerebral Palsy. Surgery and Insurance? We Answered:
Based on your disability, you are eligible for SSD and medical or medicaid. If you have tendon lengthening of your heel cords and hamstrings, you will be in a long leg cast for about a month and then intense PT for a few months. I would wait until the school year is over and have the surgery in May and be ready for school in late august. Medical or medicaid will cover the surgery and the therapy. Private insurance will too but their can be significant co pays depending on the policy. Since you are under 21, you may want to see a pediatric orthopedic since they do this surgery regularly. An adult orthopedist probably has not done the surgery since his or her residency.
