Physical Therapy Grad School

Gail Said:

I got suspended from Physical therapy school due lower GPA and was planning to apply to another grad program..?

We Answered:

Speech pathology programs are highly competitive. I doubt they'd take a second look at you.
You may want to apply for either a PTA program or COTA.

Roberta Said:

Physical Therapy Grad school admission likelihood? ?

We Answered:

It should not affect your admission. I had one myself. I dropped a class because I couldn't make it to physics on time (which was obviously more important).

You have a good solid GPA. I would not spend anymore time doing shadow hours (unless you really like it)...most schools do not check further once you've completed the minimum.

Focus on your interview and writing skills now, and the GRE if required.

I think you are good candidate.

Good luck.

Darren Said:

Is it smart for me to get my pre-med and then apply to grad school for physical therapy.?

We Answered:

...this would be fine, as long as you take all the courses required by the PT program to which you hope to apply. ...any undergraduate degree would be OK if you met the requirements set forth by the graduate school (although some schools do require you have a science major).

Amy Said:

How can you go to grad school for physical therapy with a bachelors in business?

We Answered:

Yes! I have a friend who did just that. She had to take six prerequisite courses between college and grad school, which she did by taking them at a local University. The thing to do is to contact the admissions department of the schools you are considering, explain your situation and ask them what prerequisites you need to take and what other admissions considerations you should address. They will help you through. You probably won't be the first call they've had on this very subject this week, and you won't be the last.
