Physical Therapy Internships
Heidi Said:
Physical Therapy Internship help?We Answered:
You can only complete a physical therapy internship as part of a physical therapy education program. So if you are an undergraduate, you are not elligible for this position. When you do complete your internships, 99% of them are unpaid...in fact, you pay tuition to complete them. However, you can be a physical therapy technician. Responsiblities vary between clinics, but usually involves a combination of clerical tasks, patient transportation, light housekeeping and occasional assistance with the therapists. You do not need any formal experience, but it doesn't pay very much. Yet, a good experience for someone hoping to become a PT.

What careers/internships are available for Physical Therapy majors? We Answered:
I guess I am not really understanding what you are asking? you can't go on to a physical therapy "internship" (which is actually called fieldwork) unless you are in a PT program. If you are wondering how to get your foot in the door to get into a PT program, then you may want to call a rehab center or hospital and do some "shadowing" hours. these really helped me get into my Occupational therapy program where I am currently enrolled.Paula Said:
Paid Physical therapy Internship?We Answered:
Your interships for PT school are coordinated by the ACCE of the PT program. Most are not paid. There are a few with stipens. If you are in undergrad, you can look towards your co op office for a co op. I did two, one in a PT dept (unpaid) and one at an orthotics/prosthetics office paid. You get credit for the course. I need to do a paper or project for each.

physical therapy/rehab internship?We Answered:
You can become an aide/technician without any formal training. It is a paid position...typically around $9-$11 an hour. It's great experience for someone considering entering the field.Ben Said:
If you are going in to a nutirtion major, or physical therapy, where can I do an internship? We Answered:
Required interships/clinical interships for PT are set up by the college or university. There needs to be an agreement and a contract with the facility. You can do a volunteer placement anywhere you would like. Each college can give a list of clinical afficlaitons.Wesley Said:
How can I increase my chances of being accepted into physical therapy school? Im a senior in high school? We Answered:
I'm going to counterpoint on the volunteer issue (you cannot call it an internship until you are in PT school). You most likely will need to complete some volunteer hours before you apply to PT school. However, I would like to counterpoint on when to perform them. Keep in mind that you will most likely need to have these places write letters of recommendation for you (they are usually preprinted evaluation forms you get in the grad program application packet). If you complete all your observation hours now, there's a good chance they may not remember you 4 years from now when you need to send in the forms. The only stipulation would be if you planned to enter a direct admit program. In which case, yes, you can start looking for observation hours now.Other than that, I would say there's nothing you need to do now. Just be a good student and involved in leadership activities.

Internships for Physical Therapist Assistant students? We Answered:
Clinical affiliations (commonly referred to as "internships") are reserved only for those enrolled in a PT or PTA program. They are unpaid positions and are considered part of your education. As a student PTA, you would not be overlooked by PT students because SPTAs and generally paired with PTAs while SPTs are paired with PTs...so it would depend on how many PTs and PTAs a facility has and whether or not they have a contract with you school to accept a student for their clinical affiliation.
