Jacqueline Said:

What does a Pre-Physical Therapy major consist of?

We Answered:

It's a program that allows you to take the courses required to get into PT schools. In short, the Pre-PT major doesn't mean much (as opposed to an education major or business major)...it just means you are taking a track of courses that will allow you to apply to graduate school. Much like "pre-med". In the real world, pre med doesn't mean much, it just means you plan to go onto medical school.

Eileen Said:

What classes must I take before entering college if I want to be a physical therapy major?

We Answered:

Since PT is a graduate degree, high school classes do not really matter. You want to take math and science so you are prepared for college. You also need to learn study skills on how to study and take test.

Heather Said:

How to major in physical therapy?

We Answered:

You can major in anything you wish, but what you need to do is to start getting an idea of where you want to go to graduate school. Find out what are the prerequisite courses that are required for that school. Try to choose a major that encompass those courses. Some examples include biology, kinesiology, movement sciences, health care sciences, etc.

Megan Said:

Pharmacy to pre-physical therapy major, what do i have to do?

We Answered:

You can have any major, but what matters is that you complete the prerequisite courses. If you were in pharmacy school, you might have met these already. It usually includes a year of biology, chemistry, physics, stats, trig/or calc, anatomy and physiology and psychology.

If you've met these already, you may only need to complete observation hours and apply for admission. However, most schools do require you complete a bachelor's degree and take the GRE prior to admission.

I would recommend going to the APTA website at www.apta.org so you can review schools and their specific requirements.

Good luck.
