want to help disabled people, should i major in physical therapy and sports medicine? We Answered:
Many disabled people can't be helped physically. If you have a choice between 2 majors, and you sincerely want to help disabled people, what about psychology and physical therapy? You'd be surprised how many shut-ins there are out here that could only wish they had someone to come to their home and help them cope (psychologoly). I know, I'm one of them ;)Good luck

What colleges allow you to major in Physical Therapy and minor in Sports Medicine? We Answered:
I think your best option would be to check out collegeboard.com and use the MatchMaker. If you put in the things you're looking for in a school (location, size, majors, etc.) it will give you a list of schools that you might be interested in.I'm not sure if you can minor in sports medicine, since that seems more like something that you would do in med school. Physical therapy requires a masters degree, so the undergrad program is usually pre-physical therapy.
From a collegeboard.com search I did for you, with the search criteria "located in New York", "4-year school", and majors of "athletic training / sports medicine" and/or "physical therapy", there were 8 results. All of the schools offered athletic training / sports medicine, but not physical therapy or pre-physical therapy. Here are the results:
Alfred University (Alfred, NY)
Canisius College (Buffalo, NY)
Dominican College of Blauvelt (Orange, NY)
Hofstra University (Hempstead, NY)
Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY)
Marist College (Poughkeepsie, NY)
State University of New York College at Brockport (Brockport, NY)
State University of New York College at Cortland (Cortland, NY)
Good luck!

Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine? We Answered:
It's always best to learn it all, because it makes you more employable. Whatever the job is, you'll be able to do it. To get experience you may have to take a job in occupational therapy or physical therapy, but over time you'll be able to do all three. OT and PT are superhot careers now, as are most healthcare related endeavours. It pays very well too. Good choice.
