Viola Said:

My company only pays so much for mileage despite that the required mileage exceeds the compensation, deduction?

We Answered:

1) Will the uncompensated miles qualify for a deduction?

Yes. All miles are unreimbursed. Deduct mileage on the miles included in your wages, as well as the uncompensated miles.

2) WIll I be able to deduct the amount I should have been paid (50cents p mile) that exceeds what I was actually paid after taxes, including the amount deducted as part of witholdings?

Deduct 50 cents for each mile driven, whether those miles were added to your pay or not. The reason is that those miles for which you were paid are taxable, so you can take them off your taxable income.

3) what type of accountant should I use come january?

This is a common situation and could be handled by any competent tax preparer. Get one with a few years experience and the preparer will know exactly what to do. Show the preparer ALL your miles.

4) what might that accountant charge for a pain in the butt case like mine? :)

This is not really a PITA. Present your mileage record. You don't have to separate what was put in your pay and what was not. That makes it much simpler than you might have thought. The extra form 2106 might be $50 or something less than that. Add $50 or so to what you normally do on your tax return. $200 - $250 sounds about right.

Is this legal? Question about hiring practices?

We Answered:

I agree with you 100%!

I applied for a job at a real estate office a couple of years ago and was given a "personality test" questionnaire to fill out while waiting for my interviewer. I looked it over and realized it was a sophisticated psychological diagnostic tool (I used to work for a child psychologist). I asked who got that form and was told the office manager. At that point I walked out with the form. If someone is not trained to intelligently interpret the results of such a tool, they have no business giving it out and expecting people to fill it out. As an applicant you have every right to be concerned about what you are committing to paper and who is reviewing it and how it is to be evaluated. I really think it's over the line, but then again it boils down to how much you want the job.

adeninie and guanine are what?

We Answered:

That is an awful lot of questions... why don't you divide them it to smaller questions??

Jennie Said:

Should I file a disagreement with the VA?

We Answered:

You can certainly try, but it sounds to me like you have the problem of multiple smaller issues and no really big ones. Most of the meds you are on are to prevent bigger problems from occurring, not actually treating big problems.

Raymond Said:

why do people hate nasa so much? when it gets a about HALF PERCENT of our country's budget?

We Answered:

Because SOOO many are suffering here & it's just our DUTY to help them with tax dollars,...instead of spending them on something productive that actually creates jobs & wealth...you know, the typical lib/dem way.
