Barbara Said:

How do I get rid of my CRAPPY SELF IMAGE?

We Answered:

By realising that you are a beautiful, wonderful person. Really... I mean it. My mum's a single parent, and how hard she's worked for my brother and I has really be an inspiration. I'm sure your son looks at you in the same way.
Being born into a family with little money is absolutely no reflection on you at all. No one can choose who they're born to. That's why it's just as silly to get upset about it as it is to be proud of it. We should all love and respect our families, but at the same time we have to accept that we're all equal. We're all human. That's what you have to get. Those people were born rich... You weren't. They aren't better than you. You aren't worse than them.
As I said, realise that you're beautiful. I bet that if you look in the mirror, you will find something you like. Whether it's a twinkle in your eye, a few cute freckles across your nose, a radiant smile, flowing hair... If not, you aren't looking hard enough.
You are not a complete failure. You have a son, and you're obviously doing your very best to give him all the love and support he needs, and that makes you a success in my book.
Possibly most important of all... You're a great person. Just reading how much you obviously care about your son... It's heartwarming. Life isn't always going to be easy, and it's how we deal with that that defines us as human beings. What are the odds that those people with the perfect lives would fall apart in your position? Pretty damn likely I reckon. But you're still hanging in there, taking on the world. You're a strong, determined and obviously capable woman. Just remember that, and keep on trying. The night is always darkest just before the dawn.
