Top Physical Therapy Schools

Leon Said:

What are the Top 10 Physical Therapy Schools?

We Answered:

Those are both good schools...Northwestern and Midwestern and Creighton are also excellent if she wishes to remain in the midwest. Other well known schools include U of Soth Cal and University of Slippery Rock.

Realistically, to find a "good school", go to a schools website and find out what their "first pass rate" is on the licensure exam. It certainly helps to pass the exam on the first try.

Go to http://www.apta.org to the educational programs section to get a profile on each school.

Is it worth going to a well known physical therapy school to do my DPT?

We Answered:

Go to the school that you can get out of with the least amount of debt. You will get a job no matter where you go. All schools must teach the same curriculm to be accredited.

If I go to Grad School for Physical Therapy in Canada, will I have a hard time getting a job in the States?

We Answered:

You would have a better chance in Canada but is much easier to go to school in the states. You need to contact the following as they give the national exam The other issue is that the US is changing to the DPT and it will be mandated in the next couple of years so if you get a masters you will need to take a more course work before sitting for the the exam. Also PT school in Canada is harder to get into. Many canadian students cross the boarder and attend PT schools. I live in a boarder town and the local schools have many Canadian students.

PT (Physical Therapy) Grad schools?

We Answered:

Most if not all schools require volunteer hours. The local college has an Exercise science program that requires an intership. Our office, usually takes one student every year. I am not sure that this helps them get in to the program or not. They all have. Many know they are getting in before they come to us. The key to getting in is grades, gree scores, interviews and references. Once you graduate, no one is going to care where you went to school. They want to know that you are eligible to sit for the exam and can get liscenced in your respective state. Go where you feel the best when visiting, where you get the best finiancial aide package. Grad school is expensive. None of the schools are easier to get into. They are all competative. Best wishes
