Universities That Offer Physical Therapy

Ruby Said:

Should I study physical therapy at arkansas state univ or univ of central arkansas?

We Answered:

Place the name of each school separately into your favorite search engine and then add the phrase reviews and ratings. Compare and contrast them.

Bernice Said:

What can you do with a BS in physical therapy?

We Answered:

In the US, if one has graduated since 2002, you cannot work as a PT unless you have the equivalent of a master's degree in PT. If you completed a BS in PT in the UK, you'd be required to take the deficient coursework and go through a lengthy and costly degree review program prior to becoming a PT in the US.

Steve Said:

What college/university has the best/most respected Physical Therapy program? ?

We Answered:

Questions like this are always dififcult to answer and are subject to bias and the effect of "name recognition" in otherwords, schools are often judged to be "better than they really are" based on name recognition and not necessarily test performance scores or outcomes of their former graduates. The US News and World Report Rankings are a good example of this.

That being said, I'd start looking at the APTA list of schools and their descriptions. Consider the following:
1. What is their first pass rate?
2. What is their overall graduation rate?
3. What is the student to faculty ratio?
4. How many publications has the program produced in the past few years?
5. What are the qualifications of the staff?

You can also look for schools denoted as 3/3 or 4/3 (or do you mean direct admit versus traditional admission?).

Marquette is a fine school that culiminates in a DPT and does have a direct admit program.

Go to www.apta.org to find descriptions of PT programs.

Gina Said:

Does someone know about a university that offer a B.S in physical therapy in Miami?

We Answered:

Physical therapy is no longer offered at the BS level. You must obtain either your master's or doctorate level degree. You can get a list of all accredited PT programs at www.apta.org
