Sarah Said:

Is UWF going to be a good school for me?

We Answered:

You can go where ever you want for undergrad for PT. Biochem is an poor choice for an undergrad for PT. PT requires a gpa of 3.5 or better. Biochem is hard and minimally relevant to PT. Only a few schools require organic chem a s a pre req. Kinesiolgoy, exercise science, health science, rehab science, or ATC are good choices. Here are some helpful links from the national organization of PT (APTA)

Sylvia Said:

When can I apply to the DPT (doctorate of physical therapy) program at USF (University of South Florida)?

We Answered:

You cannot be taking more than 6 credits of the prerequisite courses. For example, if you are still in the process of completing your A/P, physics, and biology, you are not elligible at this time.

This prevents students from applying to the program with a "good" GPA who have not yet taken the "hard" classes which have the potential to bring down their GPA.

If, however, you only have 6 credits of prereqs left, but are also currently taking other classes to finish your degree, you are eligible to apply as early at Sept 1st.

Jane Said:

Which college should I go to?

We Answered:

If it were me, I would go to UF.

It's the best college in the state, hands down and has national name recognition and credibility. I've had friends who were moved to the "interview phase" of in-state and out-of-state job search just because they graduated from UF.

I know that it might seem a be a bit scary to go off somewhere new for college, but you have to remember that when you're a freshmen EVERYONE is new. They're all looking for new friends and trying things out to see where they fit. Joining clubs or other campus groups are a great way to meet new people with similar interests. That's where I've made a majority of my friends in college, including my boyfriend of 2 years.

College is about getting out of comfort zone and experiencing life for yourself. Don't sell yourself short. Getting into UF these days is a huge accomplishment. Those people at admissions are tough! Don't waste the opportunity.

Plus, it's only a couple of hours from Tampa which is a short enough distance to see people when you want to and enough distance to keep them away when you don't. I've learned this from experience. ;)

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions about UF. I'd be happy to answer them for you.

Good luck with your decision!
