Becoming a self-employed personal trainer or physiotherapist? We Answered:
You left out any previous job experience. Unless you've done this before, I would be careful, as this is a "dream" of many people and you have to be good to do well. Also, a physiotherapist requires a degree. If you were to do that as a career, you would certianly have to go back to school. With that in mind, I'll talk about personal training:To be a trainer, you need to get your certification. This can be done cheaply and pretty quickly, but without it, you won't get much business. At that point, I would go apply at gyms and health clubs. Be warned that without experience, it's difficult, but you might get in. The life of a trainer is difficult. You are almost exclusively on commision, so you have to learn to sell and produce quick results. But people have done it and done well. If you can do well and establish a client base at a gym over a few years, you can then try to go out and open your own gym. Good luck

I suggest asking in a different section! :)My physical therapist was once a trainer/therapist for the Cleveland Browns football team (American football!). He said it sounds great, and looks fantastic on a resume, but other than that it sucked. The PTs for the team were the lowest of the low and were working 24/7. If a player woke up in the middle of the night and wanted a soda and an ice pack, he'd have to go out and get it and take it to him. Lots and lots of undervalued, low paid grunt work. He enjoys his current job, working on the general public in a clinic, much, much better.
