Jobs For Physiotherapists

Darlene Said:

Tattoos on physiotherapists - job prospects?

We Answered:

Bit of a minefield this one, a good female friend of mine works in the NHS and is pretty much a painted lady. I think it very much depends on the management of where you are based. You have been on placements which obviously means you are on rotation and have been working under different people who may have varied views about this.
It is a shame as you are enjoying your work so far and people should really be looking at your enthusiasm and commitment to the job rather than any tattoo you have...but people are people.
My dear friend hasn't been hindered in her chosen career path in the NHS, however she is in the position that most of hers are covered up and she works in a specialised field where she uses radiography equipment and isn't as hands on as you may be in your field.
It's a crying shame that you have to raise such a question as you come across as someone who really likes what they do, and if someone likes what they do they are more dilligent in work and tend to be better at a job. Personally it shouldn't be an issue and on a broader scale if your advancement was hindered by some who didn't like that then surely that would be considered a breach in employment law....I hope you don't ever feel you have to consider getting them removed because of this as I don't think it should be a problem for you, nobody is stopping you from doing your job because of it so far.

14, 00 trainee doctors, 32 million spent on training for physiotherapists and ecologists cant get jobs ?

We Answered:

Hey how many digress do you have..if I remember, many...me, I graduated in business administration and ended up running a press...so it is not a new circumstance...you are so right, here it is the same, the universities and colleges are training people for the wrong professions...physiotherapists and kinesiologists are in abundance but the institutions are still churning them out...journalism, ecology and urban planning are others...idealistic kids go into the professions that are sold to them by these institutions justifying their very existence and they end up serving fries..better the unsuspecting kid rather than some unemployed teacher...I know one brilliant boy who graduated in chemical engineering and ended up in a career selling yellow page ads...and the saddest one that goes on here is we have courses like "police foundations" and "Fire Fighting" and the employmnt rate of these graduates are minimal and most end up in retail or security because even the chiefs in the profession would rather take kids directly from school...anyway, it all boils down to the system has failed to keep up and keep a constant knowledge of the prospects in the field and then deter kids from taking the courses or canceling them altogether..but we do have to be careful of this approach because here in the 80s it was thought that to limit the doctors graduating would cut healthcare costs..hence, to day we have a shortage...so it can be the proverbial double edge.anyway, your questions are too tough today..
