Physical Therapy Supplies

Beth Said:

My best friend is going to school to become a physical therapist, what math and science classes will she need?

We Answered:

do you mean assistants (PTA) or aide or PT. That is a huge different what is required.

An aide needs no education

A PTA requires algebra, A and P, maybe chemistry

A PT requires 1 year of general bio, general chem, general physics. One year of A and P, some schools require calc others less, Some schools require organic others do not. Most schools require psy.

Usually just a scientific calulator is sufficent

Ricky Said:

Which profession would you choose being a physical therapist or being a pharmacist? and why?

We Answered:

Jennifer makes some good points...do you like working with things or people? As a pharmacist, you will certainly come in contact with people, but as a physical therapist, you will have a deep interaction...often time making life changing results.

Both programs can be done in six years if you enter a master's degree, yet both professions are changing more of their programs to a doctorate level education which is closer to 7 or 7 years and a couple summer rotations to complete.

While I cannot comment on a starting salary for a pharmacist, the starting salary for a PT is usually between $45-55,000 a year. The average salary for a PT, according to the bls, is about $66,000 a year. Yet, the APTA found a wide variability of salary in PTs in 2005. About 50% of PTs were earning between $50-70,000 a year, yet another 25% earned more than $75,000. It depends highly on your region, experience and any speciality certifications you hold

Michael Said:

Is it too soon to ask for my vicodin refill?

We Answered:

If you need more pain relief than you get from taking your medication as it's prescribed, you need to go back to the doctor and get help with better pain management. Especially if you have insurance, you may not be allowed to fill the prescription early.

Another issue to think about is what's going to happen when you run out of refills. If that happens, your doctor may be reluctant to write a new prescription, so it's really important to let him know that the Vicodin is not managing your pain.

Don't worry about what other people think. Be concerned about getting better.

Please do call your doctor. You deserve good treatment and proper pain management.

I was a victim of an auto accident. How do I seek a claim for time wasted on making claims?

We Answered:

Im an insurance agent and former insurance claims adjuster... If you were not at-fault for this accident the claimants insurance company should offer you a settlement offer for your injuries and suffering [the suffering is what we in the insurance world consider what you may call inconvenience] Before you accept a settlement offer for your injuries make sure you let the claims adjuster know that your time as been convinced as a result of their customers negligence and you would like to be reimbursed. They should offer you another $500 to $1k.
