That said, the answer is - no. A physiotherapist is a therapy technician - generally only a 2-4 year school. He or she cannot prescribe medicines without a doctor or nurse-practitioner signing a prescription. They're a good and necessary profession - just not as trained, and not as well paid.

However, some physiotherapists are nurse practitioners. A few are even doctors-in-training, or people studying kinestheology ( a 4 year degree, generally with a sports-medicine emphasis)
