James Said:

We Answered:

You have to pass the certification exam in order to work as a physiotherapist in Canada.

Marcia Said:

What highschool credits/courses do I need to take to become a physiotherapist (in Canada)?

We Answered:

Your college / university degree program and/or courses are what will matter for entry into physiotherapy. A program such as kinesiology is great (which is what I took) because all the required courses tie in with what you need for physiotherapy.

In terms of what you need in high school, you will need all your sciences (biology, chemistry, physics) and math. Consider even taking advanced calculus if you can. As long as you have a good science background (coming out of high school), you will have all the prerequisites for your first year science courses.

To help you with your studying and note taking in college, read up on the articles below:

Can I become a Physiotherapist in Canada with a low gpa?

We Answered:

You do have a chance for admission although it is not a good one. You will have to decide if it is worthwhile taking the classes that you need./

Beth Said:

If i get a degree from a university in the UK can i work in Canada with that degree?

We Answered:

Yes, but there are additional steps in the licensing process.

Prior to taking the Physiotherapy Competence Exam (PCE) you will have to have your credentials assessed through the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators' credentialing process (or if you plan to work in the Province of Quebec, the credentialing process of L'ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec). I heard from some people and heard on some websites that another option is to get an undergraduate degree in any science field and than do Masters in Physiotherapy? Do you know anything about this and if so, what do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of doing this? I want to major in physics and feel like this would help me to be better in that sort of field, although it is not a requirement. I would appreciate any advice, thank you!
