Responsibilities Of A Physiotherapist

Marvin Said:

What are the differences between an athletic trainer, a physiotherapist and a physical therapist?

We Answered:

A physical therapist (USA) and a physiotherapist (rest of the world) is the same thing. They are skilled professional that perform a wide variety of techniques to "rehab" an injury, birth defect, etc. Patients are from birth to geriatric and all organ systems. In the US, PT is a graduate degree and ATC is still mostly a BS degree. ATC provide on field coverage for sports injuries and rehab back to the field. They treat only a very small portion of the poplulation for a very specific function.

The existence of Modern Day ethnocentrism?

We Answered:

I don't understand what you're saying. I don't assume someone is poor just because they're black.

I also understand that Africa is a continent made up of several countries. That's common knowledge. You may be referring to Americans in particular, but a lot of them know that. They just have a very poor education system which is also very Amero-centric. Heck, I'm from Canada, and most Americans have crazy preconceptions about their neighbour to the north.

I don't help Africans. I don't get involved with African issues, send money, or anything like that.

I'd like to go to Africa some time. There are so many interesting places. I'd also like to go to other continents, like Australia, the Indian sub-continent, and Antarctica.

Nora Said:

My physiotherapist has given me more injuries. Has this happened to anyone else? Advice please!?

We Answered:

It must have, but...
There is no clear, independent complaints procedure for private health care treatment. Private hospitals and clinics have to register with the local authority and so the local authority can deal with some service related problems. However with there being no independent regulator, court is a more immediate possibility. Plenty of links to Government and other third party sources have been included below so consult those if you are at all unsure.
Complaints about the conduct of other health professionals: Complaints relating to the attitude or behaviour of other health related staff including physiotherapists, should be made to the Health Professions Council (HPC). The HPC's Investigating Committee will check a complaint or allegation to determine if there is a case and the nature of the case. If so, it then goes to either the Conduct and Competence Committee or the Health Committee.
