Osteoarthritis - Exercises for hands and feet?

We Answered:

A nerf ball is the usual treatment for the hand. Tennis balls are too firm and can cause the OA to flare up. Moving the thumb is circles can help - as long as doing so doesn't make it hurt worse. Touching your thumb to each finger in succession is also a good exercise.Bend you fingers at the end, then the middle, and thenat the palm (as if you were making a closed fist, but do it slowly) You may want to apply some heat or warm towels to your hands first to loosen them up.

For the foot, I tell patients to put a newpaper or towel on the floor and try to bunch it up with your toes. Alternately spread your toes as far apart as possible, relax, then repeat. Point your big toe and practice writing the alphabet. (This is really good for the ankles)
While sitting, lift your heels so that the ball of the foot is on the floor and bend the toes backwards, then downwards.

There may be more, but these are the ones that help me.

Joint problems that just wont go away help?

We Answered:

There are actually a lot of things that could be causing this. It IS possible, although not common for a 15 year old to have arthritis and it would continue on into adulthood. It might also be a vertebrae that just isn't sitting right which will radiate down your leg...There are a lot of possibilities.
I also had the same problem when I was 15.I had joint pain, constant fatigue among other things and doctor after doctor told me it was in my head. Finally at 20 I found a real doctor and was diagnosed with Lupus. It is mostly a women's disease, but men are known to have it too.

Again though, there are many things that might cause this. Your best bet would be to switch doctors. Don't see a general physician or family physician though. Go to an Internal medicine doctor or rheumatologist. They will be better equipped and familiar with what might be causing this and what tests to run.

Good luck. I hope you get to the bottom of this and start feeling better.

how to get rid of my lower back pain?

We Answered:

I had back pain since of was 16. I have curved back + mild scoliosis, however it is hardly noticeable on my appearance. I could not sit in front my pc more than an hour and my tailbone. These are exercises helped me remove pains form my back:
Chiropractic.
Yoga (I've included specific practices for back pain you may want to consider).
Setting up an ergonomic computer set.

Live well :)
