Courses in Mental Illness and Speech Pathology?

in fact you could check with the relevant country's high commission. say for eg, you want to study in UK, get in touch with the high commission in your country for the available uni/colleges there & then check out the courses.

Andrew Said:

Do you have to major in Speech Pathology to get into a grad school?

We Answered:

No, you shouldn't have too. The two majors that you have now sound like they would relate to Speech Pathology very nicely. Grad schools are not going to look at your specific majors as much as your actual academic performance in undergrad. They are often very willing to let someone take supplemental coursework when needed, as long as the student shows promise in being successful at graduate level work.

Speech pathology requires a graduate degree to be licensed anyway, so it doesn't matter as much what type of undergrad coursework you took. This is similar to the variety of majors that students apply with to medical school. I work for a medical school, and believe me, people come in with all types of majors and do just fine.

Mark Said:

What courses do speech pathologists have to take in college?

We Answered:

You can, but you'll have to take a few "core" classes before starting in a graduate program; speech development/disorders, language development/disorders, phonetics, and hearing problems, at the very least..
I seriously think psycholinguistics or abnormal psychology are better options than an undergrad major than English.
