Find Speech Therapist
Brad Said:
I need to find a speech therapist for my daughter.Does anyone know where I can find one?We Answered:
my daughter is 4 and has been in speech since she was 18 months. i know how hard it can be when you have to do all this stuff on your own. at her age, its now the school systems job to help. call the school district or the primary (elementary) school in your area and they should be able to point you in the right direction.good luck

where can i find a good speech therapist? how do i find the right speech therapist? We Answered:
Finding a good speech therapist depends on where you live. Usually your PCP (primary care physician) can recommend a speech therapist that they have experience with. You need to have the patient tested to find out how severe their speech disability is. You can usually find pretty good doctors that are associated with your hospital. Here is a list of a few:Morton Cooper-Speech Pathology

Julia Hobbs Speech Pathology

Where can I find a speech therapist internship for a undergraduate majoring in communicative disorders in Ca?We Answered:
Are you almost done with your B.A. in speech? I finished my B.A. in comm disorders last year at Cal State Fullerton and I am now working in a school district as an SLP. Once you are done with your B.A., and you have been accepted to a graduate program, any school district will hire you. I was getting job offers left and right once I told them that I was in a graduate program. I love it and it is GREAT!! If you are still a ways away from getting your B.A. then I would try looking on the internet for Speech and Hearing centers... all of the major cities have at least one, and they are sometimes good with undergrades and some internships... some of the people at Fullerton were able to get some hours done there, but there are NOT a lot of openings... You might also want to go for your SLP-A license... that's the assistant's license, but you will need to go to like Cerritos College for that... it is ONLY done at the community colleges... Once you are done with your B.A. then you will have to do two classes, if I remember right, at Cerritos to get your SLP-A. That does involve you doing some internship type stuff AND you must also be able to attend classes over at Cerritos also... I considered that route right when I finished my B.A., but I lived way to far from Cerritos to be able to attend class three nights a week.Really... once you are in a graduate program... people will be begging you to come work in the schools... you can really just take your pick of districts to work in... If I were you, I would just try and get my B.A. out of the way ASAP and get working!
Good Luck!

Contact The Stuttering Foundation of America as that is where our family got help. Their book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" worked wonders after working through it step by step. The book can be found here http://www.stutteringhelp.org/Portals/En…
Some medications that other stutterers have tried include lorazepam, citalopram, celexa, and buspar. Ask your doctor about trying an anti-anxiety medication while you are working on your stuttering. Be aware that your stuttering may be better than the side-effects of the medication, though.
