Masters Speech Therapy

Arthur Said:

Speech therapist or classroom teacher?

We Answered:

Yes, but you could begin taking some of the necessary prerequisites as an undergraduate, assuming that your current school offers them. If you can do go to graduate school immediately after college, I would suggest doing so. It's harder to go back to school after you have been working than to continue on to graduate school immediately. Sometimes it is hard to complete certain graduate programs on a part-time basis.

Also, jobs in elementary education are not easy to find these days. If you can't find a job, you are better off staying in school. There are more speech pathology jobs available.

Reginald Said:

I got a master's degree in speech therapy but don't want to do it. What else can I do with that degree?

We Answered:

Only you can answer that question? What else can you do? Many people end up working in areas that have nothing to do with their degree. I once hired a programmer who had a PhD in particle physics - he picked up programming on the side.
The key thing you need now is experience, in something. With all the college classes you took, what else did you find interesting? Are there any areas of your study that have overlapping application towards another field (e.g. psychology)?
