Bertha Said:
Careers Advice. I graduated with a 2.1 in Bsc (hons) Psychology and having trouble finding a career path.?We Answered:
Unfortunately, there are not alot of careers with an undergraduate degree in Psychology unless you go on for a masters degree. And, with less than a 3.0 undergrad GPA, you will have trouble getting into graduate school. If you choose to try and pursue graduate school, my suggestion is that even though the deadlines have passed for fall, take a graduate course as a "non-matriculated" student. You will still do the work and get a grade. Try to get an A. Take another one, as many as they will allow you to. (At my school you could take 3 classes without matriculating.)
Then, apply next early next fall for the 2012 year. You'll now have three classes (hopefully with A's) in the very same school and masters program that you're applying for. And, perhaps you can get one of their teachers to write you a reference letter (choose one you get an A with) from a course you took.
This will help mitigate the under 3.0 GPA and prove that you are capable of doing graduate level work.
Best of luck.
