Nhs Speech Therapy

Lee Said:

Does speech therapy cost? please help!?

We Answered:

all you need to do is go to your doctors, they will refer you if they believe it is a problem.
it will be free - just like it would be if you had a nhs operation, or dental work

Don Said:

What would you do, get money now or be patient?

We Answered:

My partner an Administrator of 8 Years got laid off and hasn't been able to find work since within the same criteria.

Becky Said:

I've had a loan and a grant for my PGCE tuition fees, can I have another one for a diploma in Speech Therapy?

We Answered:

Hi...because Speech Therapy is classed as an NHS funded course and you will be entitled to a bursary (based on household income) from them and also a reduced rate maintenance loan from the SLC. The NHS will pay your fees. Your fees will still be covered despite your previous study.

It is worth mentioning that the SLC do not take into account if you self funded unless it was at a private institution and would always count it as 'previous study.'

To sum up - don't worry about your fees they are awarded irrespective of previous study (in most cases)
You may not be entitled to the NHS bursary if your household income is high but you will still receive a reduced rate maintenance loan, which by the way, is less than £3k - check figures on direct.gov.co.uk.

Sharon Said:

Can i get speech therapy on the NHS?

We Answered:

NO

Jaime Said:

speech and language therapy bsc?

We Answered:

As well as your tuition fees you will receive a means tested bursary. So it depends on your personal circumstances as to how much you receive. Personally I got the loan as the bursary is not quite enough to live on.
