Career change Speech Language Pathologist to Pediatric Nurse Practitioner ?We Answered:
Well, 23 is not too late to start, not by a long shot. There are people who start nursing careers in their 30s and 40s. But that point about "less education"..... the nurse practioner program is not going to be short. You will need a Master's degree to obtain it, with an RN license prior to entering the Masters program. Plan for another 5 - 6 years total, on top of the education you already have.Since you are already working as a speech pathologist, I'd stay with it while going to nursing school, if you decide that is what you want to do. You're gonna have a lot of school debt by the end of it all. The good news is that if you find a hospital that is really needy for nurses or nurse practioners, they may help finance your school program. Your state may also have some funding for the program you want, check with a nearby university to find out about these programs.

How do I find a therapist or clinical fellow for my private pediatric speech therapy practice in Sarasota, FL?We Answered:
You may wish to start by placing an ad on Craigslist:http://www.craigslist.org/
These ads are completely free. Should this fail to generate response, then you might consider advertising on the Speech Pathology website:
http://www.speechpathology.com/
or Therapy Jobs:

Hope this helps!

Pediatric Speech therapy Evaluation?We Answered:
I assist with these evaluations a lot. They will ask you a lot of questions about your child's speech and how she communicates. They may bring out books or flash cards and ask her to identify pictuures by pointing to assess her receptive language. They will aks her to name items to assess her expressive language. Ity wont be anything too stressful, and it's done using toys and books to be child friendly.Theresa Said:
I'm thinking about going into the field of Pediatric Speech Therapy.?We Answered:
Check out:http://www.bls.gov/oco/home.htm
Either use the A-Z index, or the search function (speech language pathologist). You should be able to find out all about what you'll need as far as education, and what the nature of the work consists of, among others, such as pay and job outlook.
As for the college courses needed, search under your university of choice's course list for Speech & Pathology. You should be able to find a course sequence, course descriptions, and FAQ's about the program itself.

What is the best type of pediatric doctor to evaluate for autism? We Answered:
Be careful. Since autism is considered not curable (this is NOT true) your son could be stuck with a diagnosis from your insurance company that follows him for life.Therapies do not really help autism. Over 75% of "autistic" children can be completely recovered from autism from low dose, frequent heavy metal chelation. Google Andrew Hall Cutler.
Worked for my son--no more autism.

What Career Choice ?? Something with Children preferable ?? Maybe Therapy? We Answered:
I suggest that you take an aptitude test. An aptitude test assesses your skills and your interests and matches you to the careers that are right for you.
