My son needed speech therapy and received in school, (the school must provide it) but I also had him go to a private speech, occupational therapist and that really helped him more that the school therapist.Have him attend both.
Good luck, speech therapy makes a big difference.

Does a child have to have an IEP and special education services to receive private speech therapy? We Answered:
Private? They'll spend for the therapy themselves? The therapy clinic can do an assessment themselves as to what the child needs. The sessions can start immediately as soon as possible. It is recommended, however, that the child still undergo consultation with the public school system for the paperwork. More highly recommended is a visit to a Developmental Pediatrician (privately if they can afford) who can accurately assess the condition of the child and make direct and concise recommendations to the therapists on what exercises the child has to perform. Without a DevPed., therapy would be surely insufficient.Janet Said:
How much money should I ask for for private speech therapy? We Answered:
You could ask other in that field around you and see what they are getting.Harold Said:
Will school districts in california pay for private speech therapy? We Answered:
They only have 90 days to make a final decision from the time you give them something IN WRITING. Has it been that long? If you are nearing the end of it, I would contact them via writing again and remind them of the first day you gave them the reports in writing.Enrique Said:
What should I charge for private speech therapy services? We Answered:
If it's only for a short time, I think a 30% - 35% discount on what you would normally charge is fair. It's not like you are going to pay income tax on that money. Me, if it was a friend, I'd do it for nothing. That's why I'm not in business.Emma Said:
Does speech therapy work?We Answered:
Both my children were severely speech delayed as young tots. They are now 17 and 14. They had many years of speech therapy. IT made a huge difference in their lives. I would highly recommend you continue the speech therapy with your child. It does not happen overnight. MY son had therapy all the way through grade school. Please, Please keep your son in therapy. It does work.
