Melinda Said:
What's Plymouth like?We Answered:
Marjon is near the main hospital at Derriford, there are lots of buses. Not so good driving, access to the city is awful, with bad roads, and masses of traffic lights.I'm sure you will like Plymouth, it is a vibrant, bustling city, with the best shopping in Devon. There are good eateries, so many that prices are competitive. I have no personal experience of Marjon, but it has a good reputation. The Barbican is the trendy place to be, as well as picturesque. It is near the Hoe, where a lot of Plymouth events happen. I'd keep clear of the nightlife in Union Street, which has a bad reputation, especially when the fleet's in (prostitution alley).
Plymouth has a small airport (near Marjon) and ferries to France and Spain, often with special offers. Check out Brittany Ferries.
And, of course, there is Plymouth Argyle. But if football leaves you as cold as it does me, there are water sports and lots of other sporting facilities.
There is a newish theatre, the Theatre Royal, and a lot of famous stars that appear at the Plymouth Pavilions, where a lot of other things also happen, ice-skating etc.
