Something happened to her brain, or her spinal cord. Strokes can cause permanant damage, sometimes reversible with rehab, sometimes nonreversible. If she had surgery on her brain, that can cause damage too. I would not feel bad and look back and blame yourself. It will only tear you apart inside.
