Speech Disorder Therapy

Scott Said:

I have a speech disorder and Am shy?

We Answered:

Be who you are. It doesn't matter if you have a speech problem or not, you are who you are. Don't let anyone bring you down! Your true friends will not care that you can't pronounce your r's, and the people that do care about that aren't worth your time.

Caroline Said:

Does my child just have a speech disorder or is there something really wrong with her?

We Answered:

You're saying you don't think she has a speech disorder? Everything you explained points directly to speech issues. She's spelling out letters that don't make sense, she's making up sentences using nonsense wors like "sawded and bestest". I would have her evaluated by an outside facility. Talk to her pediatrician about a referral to a speech pathologist.

My son was speech delayed. He's been in speech therapy at his school since he was 3. He's 5 now and is still in speech class, but is near if not at the level of speech he needs to be. He still has trouble with some words, misplacing letters saying "srom" instead of "from", but with correction he sounds it out and corrects himself.

Gina Said:

Children with major speech disorders need one-on-one therapy?

We Answered:

Frequently, children with major speech disorders are put into self-contained classrooms, with the title, "Severe Language Delay" as the type of classroom it is. These are taught by Speech and Language Specialists, rather than regular teachers.
