Jeff Said:

Best undergraduate school in midwest for speech language pathology or communication sciences and disorders?

We Answered:

You might start by looking up whether there is a professional or national certifying body (Like the National Registry for EMT's or the AMA) and see if they have recommended or accredited schools.

Alternately, consider where/by whom you might want to be employed and contact people in your ideal profession to ask suggestions of them. Most of them network and/or hire inside their industry and there might be preferred schools...

Can I major in linguistics and still get into a speech-language pathology graduate program?

We Answered:

Then go the speech and language route. I work at a speech and language spec ed school and I love it. Use Linguistics as a minor or electives.

Catherine Said:

Does anyone know of any colleges for speech language pathology that dont look at gpa for grad school enroll?

We Answered:

Your gpa from undergrad is not the only thing that grad programs are going to consider. They are also going to be interested in your GRE scores. I think it will be hard to find a program that will not look at your undergrad GPA, but you may be able to find a program that will admit you conditionally. Good luck!

What is the difference between speech pathology and speech language pathology?

We Answered:

Hello. You're never to old to go to a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). Speech pathology and speech language pathology are the same thing. Sometimes people omit the word "language" from the title because it is A) quicker to say and B) people traditionally think of SLPs as working more with speech than language. However SLPs do work with speech AND language.

You do not necessarily need to go through a doctor in order to see an SLP for a speech problem that isn't medically related (and it sounds like yours is not). You can call a speech clinic in your area or search for SLPs near you. You can find them on the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) website. That is the national organization for SLPs. Here is the link to their "find a professional" section:
http://www.asha.org/findpro/

If you grew up speaking another language, it is very understandable that your English may sound different from that of a native speaker. If it is bothering you and you decide to go to an SLP, they can usually help you pick up on exactly what is different about the way you speak and give you instructions/practice on how you can sound more like a native speaker.

Good luck :)
