Working holiday in Australia: What city? I need to consider a few factors below:?We Answered:
Melbourne's cost of living is not HIGH! It is Australia's liveable city with affordable housing, stable economy, jobs galore. Mackay is not booming. Its dead as an f'ing doornail. I would know I live in the Whitsundays NO JOKE! The cost of living is high here and there is an affordable housing shortage. Our economy is very UN-stable e.g its booming one day, dead the next. The mining industry is a major factor in global warming and pollution of the GBR. There is not much to do here and its the build up to the wet season so its very hot and humid. The Whitsundays is nothing special. Melbourne has low rent, excellent job opportunities in your field of work, It is the centre of main attractions in this country and it has lovely beaches.Warren Said:
Eligible for Youth Allowance australia? We Answered:
I believe the amount is 35K (parents earning) or you have to have earnt 30K over the past 18 months.youth allowance can be seen as financial assistance to help those individuals who would otherwise be expected to help support their parents instead of going to university, its not meant for those that parents can afford to still pay the household bills whether or not the kids stay at home to study at university. Unfortunately, the government sees your decision to move states to study as a "choice" and will not reward you with YA. You are choosing that degree because of your interest rather than a degree closer that would get you a job. Given the current theorys that your generation will change careers 5 times in their life as justification - why speach pathology now, why not as career change #2 or 3?

Are you a University Student (in Australia?)?We Answered:
G'day,Steelpaw's answers are really good and you might need to take note on the problems that you may encounter when you have just arrived and settling down.
The only incorrect info from the answer is that as an international student, you can only work max 20hrs/week during semester study period, and full-time only during semester break period. Therefore as you can see, you cannot rely much on the income from Australia to support yourself. So please budget yourself carefully as I have seen quite a number of my fellow international students have to go home halfway b'cos running out of funds.
Unfortunately you did not mention which city are you going to. As general info, Sydney & Canberra are the most expensive cities, followed by Melbourne & Brisbane, then Darwin, Adelaide, Perth and Hobart. I am atthing a link from a uni in Melbourne as your reference. Most likely you can get the same info from your uni's website.
The student union and campus public noticeboard may have the job info from time to time.
Hope this helps. Good luck for your study and welcome to Australia.

boring person?We Answered:
The question is not what they think but are you happy, Are you happy with your life that's what is important!!If you are bored you can volunteer for a cause that you believe or join some kind of class like exercise or cooking ect. There you have the opportunity to meet new people and expand your social circle.
If you are happy the way you are don't listen to other people it is your life.

Australia: University question?We Answered:
You should stand a better chance of getting an answer to your question if you ask in Yahoo! Australia Answers. Just click on the Australian flag at the bottom of the page and you are there.Jessie Said:
Any primary school teachers? (thinking of becoming one?)?We Answered:
It's a rewarding career as long as you don't take yourself too seriously. The pay isn't too bad regardless of what people say and it's economy proof. The stockmarket only affects the amount of time off you get for re-training lol.
When you go to university they usually put you in a school for observation in the second term, so you find out pretty early if this is the job for you.
These days to be a full time teacher you have to be organised so that means you need to get classroom management under control early.
This is never ending but as long as you focus on behaviour of the children you can start to see results.
I fell in love with the learning side and it really helps me understand English. Mathematics is difficult to teach but don't worry there are good textbooks to help you with that if you find it the same as me.
Primary Schools are generally divided up into Infants and Primary where this is Stage 2 and 3 in the NSW syllabus.
Marking in infants is usually done on the day. Primary can be extensive depending on the lessons you are teaching. You set the program so be kind to yourself.
I find the Brookvale site a good easy way to explore how schools work in NSW and it also has some good student work samples.

Have you really looked into Macquarie Universitiy? I see that they offer it by distance for 2008 and that they are reviewing it for 2007. It's a 2 year programmme and not cheap, but they do offer it. Below is the direct link. Also, the University College London has a few programmes that might of interest and I thought they offered one in speech and language processing by distance, but I can't seem to find it off hand.....below is the link though.
