It can be a rewarding field because you're involved in diagnosis and speech therapy to help people hear and speak better. So you could be working with children who have speech and hearing difficulties or with adults who are relearning how to speak after strokes or traumatic injury. You might see if you can "shadow" a speech pathologist for a day to see the kinds of work they do.
